Let's be honest, being merry and bright this time of year is sometimes easier said than done. There are long lines and crowds in every store, piggy drivers (as I like to call it) and impatient people everywhere! When I feel that starting to boil up inside me, I have to make a very conscious decision to take a breath and BE MERRY.
Choosing to be merry is often paired with a bright smile, and that's what people need, especially this time of year. Christmas cheer should be spreading and I'll do whatever I can to make that happen!! That means responding to grinchy people with a bright smile, as well. Don't let the grouchy take away your merry. Let people cross the street when it's your right of way in the parking lot, give a genuine "thank you" to the checker at the grocery store, give a wave and a grateful smile when someone lets you cross the street, and especially give a bright smile when a not-so-cheery person waves a not-so-merry finger at you or has something nasty to say. It'll go a long way in your heart, and possibly even theirs!
So, this busy holiday season, leave that grinchy attitude behind and choose to be merry and bright!! Here's to a cheerful and healthy week ahead, friends!
